Polymer Preparation and Dosing Systems CONTINUFLOC V8 with new and innovative details

CONTINUFLOC systems are fully automatic preparation systems for granular or powdery polyelectrolytes and concentrated liquids.
The units are designed as two-chamber pendulum systems. They can be integrated in existing control systems via Profibus.
A deciding factor for the CONTINUFLOC V8 is its reliability. And these systems are easy to handle.
New is the touch panel with color display, which makes the operation very comfortable. All error messages are saved in the PLC. This allows finding sources of failure in a short time. The alarm history can be exported in CSV and may be sent to Alltech for analysis.
As there is sometimes a lack of space at site, the two preparation tanks have been re-designed. Now the system needs less space, without a decrease of the maturity time.

Life cycle cost under control

For saving polymer and reducing operation costs – without reducing the efficiency - it is important to achieve an optimal dispersion of the polymer. As well as the price for raw oil, the price for polymers usually rises and it is important to realize product savings wherever it is possible.

With the re-design of the CONTINUFLOC V8 we have implemented a lot of cost cutting improvements. Newly designed agitators allow an improved mixing of the polymer which has a direct positive impact on the efficiency.

The new wetting and dispersion system improves the solution quality.

Bottom bearings for the agitators installed in the tanks make sure that mixers run smoothly. By this drive and tanks are spared and there is less wear and tear.

Mr. Norbert Koch, Head of the Construction Department, says: „We have optimized the design of the product distribution system to improve the operational safety and also reduce the maintenance requirements.”

Monitoring features for a smoothly running process

The user of CONTINUFLOC systems will be supported by electronic indicating the polymer level or flow, but also an optical control of the polymer via inspection window is possible. A smooth production process is ensured by electrical and visual control. If there is a lack of polymer the process will be stopped automatically. By this a constant concentration of the solution is guaranteed.

The level measurement in the solution tanks is done by means of robust pressure sensors with analogue output. The tank level will be indicated at the display of the V8 touch panel.

Other monitoring accessories, like flow control or overpressure control for the neat polymer pumps or the powder hopper low level signal can be selected optionally.

The Mother Tank with design certification is a system for the easy and safe handling of standard intermediate bulk containers (IBCs)

The protection of staff and environmental protection have priority.

Dosing pumps are connected directly to your IBCs and the operator has to constantly monitor that the container does not run empty. When to switch IBCs? Switching too early leaves product in the container which has to be sent back to the manufacturer or be disposed at your own expense. What about transferring while there is still product in the container? It works basically good but the IBC levels need to be tracked closely in order not to miss the right time. Otherwise containers may be overfilled and risk both operator and environmental issues. Waiting until the container is empty is not a solution either as you might have to prime pumps again, and dosing is interrupted this way. Whatever you do: - Product must be available just in time. - What if the IBC runs dry over the weekend?

Here is the solution for all these problems: the Mother Tank. The Mother Tank is a storage system for the safe handling of standard IBCs. IBCs are placed directly on the top of the Mother Tank by a fork lift truck or other lifting gear and completely emptied into the tank.

The Alltech Mother Tank is available with a certification of design from the DIBt (Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik). DIBt is the German Institute for Product Homologation. In addition, the Mother Tank has a registered design. The advantages of using the mother tank are obvious:

• No chemical residuals left! No spillage! A new IBC can already be drained, when there are still 10-50% of chemical available in the tank.
• Continuous feeding of the dosing system within a wide time slot.

Dosing stations for concentrated polymer

Our dosing stations excel in the compactness of their design: The dosing stations are available pre-assembled, including wiring and piping. Each dosing station undergoes intensive tests prior to delivery. They can be mounted onto a wall, on the floor or in a protection cabinet. No matter whether the dosing station is placed indoors or outdoors. The chemical-proof protection cabinet guarantees a high-level safety for operators and environment.

The CONTINUFLOC V8 as well as the Mother Tank and a dosing station for concentrated polymer will be shown at the IFAT 2012.
