New overpressure sensor for piston diaphragm metering pumps FKM
For over twenty years the piston diaphragm metering pump FKM has been a synonym for safety and efficiency in chemical water treatment. The new overpressure sensor for the integrated pressure relief valve, certified by the Technical Control Board (TÜV), further improves this standard.
In order to monitor the suction as well as the pressure side of the pump, the overpressure sensor is mounted onto the pressure relief valve of the pump. If the pressure relief valve opens due to excess vacuum or overpressure, this will be indicated by the sensor. The status is visible locally on the sensor LED and also available as a contact for remote indication.
Fully automatic preparation and dosing system CONTINUFLOC in the WWTP Straubing
The sewage plant Straubing is one of the most modern sewage treatment plants in Europe. With the decision for the conversion of the ATZ procedure for thermal sludge utilisation the new building of the dewatering became also necessary.
Within the scope of the completely new sludge dewatering, the fully automatic two chamber pendulum system CONTINUFLOC is used for the polymer solution preparation. The system is designed for the preparation and dosing of powdery as well as liquid flocculants and was delivered completely tested with wiring and piping. Besides the needs of the dewatering machine with regard to solution quality, the demands of the operator concerning handling, security and reliability have caused the decision for the CONTINUFLOC.
Maintenance is extremely easy with the piston diaphragm metering pump FKM
Alltech Dosieranlagen GmbH have developed the FKM piston diaphragm metering pump for the metering of liquid chemicals. These metering pumps not only meet the growing demands for operational safety and precision, but are taking the lead on low maintenance costs and maintenance-friendly design.
The hydraulic liquid in the metering pumps is to be changed after 8,000 hours of operation only. As a preventive measure we recommend to change the diaphragm in the same interval. Because of the thoughtful design of the pump, this can be done remarkably quickly.
To change the diaphragm, only the dosing head must be removed. The diaphragm can then be removed completely, together with the backing plate and it can be replaced. The piston stays unaffected.
An integrated safety valve in the pump's hydraulic prevents a dangerous overpressure, due to possible restrictions or shuts of the dosing lines. This increases the operational safety of the pumps and protects the environment and operation staff.
If valve parts need to be replaced, this can be done at minimum costs by changing the wear parts.
L. Bach, Head of the Marketing and Sales Division of Alltech Dosieranlagen GmbH, emphasises that neither special tools nor special skills are required for maintenance. "Thoughtful and self-explanatory design makes the complete maintenance possible in a very short time, even for untrained staff."
The efficient design of FKM metering pumps means a minimum of spare parts in stock. Moreover, the full output range of FKM metering pumps is covered by only three sizes, which also cuts down on spares in stock. However, in the event spare parts are needed, all components are quickly available.
Of course Alltech offers training courses for pump maintenance, where practical experience can be gathered at first hand.
